Pain
Management for Avon-By-The-Sea NJ
Monmouth
Pain and Rehabilitation has something new to offer patients
who are in pain or suffering from disabling health conditions; our
pain management and rehabilitation facility provides multi-disciplinary
care that includes medical treatment, physical therapy, chiropractic,
and acupuncture in one location. By offering the very best healthcare
practitioners in a variety of fields, our rehabilitation facility
is making the process of reducing pain easier for patients and more
effective overall.
At
Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation, we operate with one basic
goal: to help patients get out of pain and return to normal activity
with as little stress and damage to the body as possible. This conservative
methodology often means working to avoid invasive, traumatic surgeries
and the long-term use of painkilling medications.
When
patients are in pain, whether it is caused by an injury or illness,
the process of relieving symptoms and restoring mobility and functioning
is known as pain management. Generally speaking, pain management
usually employs some form of pharmacological element (painkilling
drugs, steroid/analgesic injections) alongside rehabilitation strategies
(physical therapy, massage therapy, and/or chiropractic care).
Medical
Care for Pain Management
Our
medical staff is spearheaded by a doctor specializing in non-surgical
pain management. By working in tight collaboration with a full staff
of physical therapists, acupuncturist, and doctors of chiropractic,
our system of care ensures that treatment is targeted, individualized,
and results-oriented. The purpose of using an integrated, multi-disciplinary
approach is to address not only the pain itself, but the specific
cause of pain.
Our
medical director may recommend and use injections of steroids or
anesthetic numbing agents when necessary. This strategy has a very
specific goal: to help patients who are in extreme pain take advantage
of physical therapy programs and other rehabilitation plans.
In
other offices, patients in disabling and immobilizing pain are often
recommended for surgery before all other treatment options have
been exhausted; Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation ensures
that every attempt has been made to avoid surgery and heal with
healthy practices. Some of the options we provide include:
•
Physical Therapy for Pain
Management in Avon-By-The-Sea: Physical therapy is
an essential element in many pain management programs. The term
‘physical therapy’ actually encompasses a range of
therapeutic options—both active (exercise) and passive (laser
therapy, electrotherapy).
•
Acupuncture: Acupuncture
has a number of benefits; in addition to providing pain relief,
it is also an excellent method of relieving stress and anxiety
while accelerating the healing process. For some, the emotional
turmoil of living with a painful condition can actually impede
the healing process. Acupuncture lowers heart rate and calms the
body. Additionally, it increases circulation to affected areas
for faster healing while helping the brain to release certain
painkilling chemicals (serotonin, endorphins) for natural pain
relief.
• Chiropractic Care:
Misalignments of the spine disrupt the normal, healthy functioning
of the nervous system. This can lead to pain and a variety of
other conditions. Chiropractic care is used in our office to ensure
the total health of the spine and to treat a number of health
concerns.
At
Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation, we are prepared to treat
a wide variety of painful conditions, including auto
accident injuries, sciatica, disc
problems, and more (see below for a more comprehensive list).
Additionally, because we offer both traditional and holistic options
for care, we are able to address a number of conditions which may
or may not be related to pain (such as smoking
cessation and depression).
