Overview
- The two x-rays
below are of the neck, also called the cervical spine. They are
taken from the side with the patient looking forward in his/her
normal posture. The x-ray on the left displays a normal cervical
spine with a "c" shaped curve called a lordosis. Also
the head is held upright over the shoulders showing zero forward
head carriage, also called a translation. This normal has been established
and published in medical and chiropractic literature. The x-ray
on the right displays a severely abnormal cervical spine with a
reversal of the normal curve. This is called a subluxation and has
serious consequences on our health and well-being.
Case
# 1 - A 16 year old female presented
with headaches and seasonal allergies. X-ray examination revealed
100% loss of normal lordosis. After 5 months of chiropractic care
her lordosis improved by 50% and the patient was symtpom free. An
x-ray was taken after a maintenance period of 1 year showing a 34%
loss of curve, a 66% change!!!
Case
# 2 - A
35 year old male presented with severe neck pain after shoveling
snow. X-ray examination revealed more than 150% loss of normal lordosis
with a 45mm anterior head carriage, called a translation. After
6 months of chiropractic care an x-ray revealed a 7mm anterior head
translation, an incredible change!!! The patient remains an active
patient and no longer experiences neck pain.
Case
# 3 - A 24 year old
female presented with intercostal rib pain and abnormal posture.
X-ray examination revealed 110% loss of the normal cervical curve
with 20mm anterior head translation. After 3 months of chiropractic
care an x-ray showed a 63% loss of normal curvature with 0mm of
translation. The patient reported no rib pain and improved energy
levels, she receives regular chiropractic check-ups.
Case
# 4 - A
33 year old female presented with headaches and severe neck pain
after a motor vehicle accident. X-ray exam revealed a 90% loss of
normal curvature. After 4 months of chiropractic care she improved
47%!!! Her symptoms subsided and she is seen regularly as a health
maintenance patient.
Case
# 5 - A 51 year old
female presented with multiple sclerosis and multiple bodily aches
and pains including headache and low back pain. The initilal x-ray
revealed a 122% loss of normal lordosis. A significant amount of
change to her pain levels were made very quickly. Her balance and
coordination improved as well. An x-ray 5 months later revealed
a 34% loss of lordosis!!!!
Case
# 6 - A 38 year old male patient
presented with neck pain and low back pain.
Initial x-ray revealed 113% loss of normal lordosis. After 5 months
of care a 79% loss of lordosis was found on x-ray. The patient no
longer experiences pain and has been able to begin an exercise program
with chiropractic playing an important role in maintaining his spinal
changes.
Case
# 7 - Mark McNulty is a 24 year old
man that presented to Monmouth Pain with severe vertigo. A neck
xray was immediately taken to investigate the positioning of the
vertebrae in his neck. Abnormally positioned vertebrae specific
to the upper neck are know in some individuals to cause vertigo
and dizziness. This is due to irritation on the corresponding nerves
of the upper neck. Correction of this abnormal positioning can provide
immediate and long lasting relief.
