How a revolution in pain management
began… and what happens next.
1997 was a big year for Dr. Dandrea.
In that year, he graduated from
Life University as a Doctor of Chiropractic, was married, and moved
to Red Bank, NJ with his new wife. From here, the ongoing and dynamic
story of Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation begins.
Dr. Dandrea’s new little
family was completely unfamiliar with the Red Bank and Monmouth
County area. While the dream of a chiropractic office was beginning
to germinate in the doctor’s mind, he understood that his
goals for success needed to start with building a reputation for
himself within the community. He began to invest himself in the
Red Bank area in earnest, volunteering his time and establishing
himself as an expert.
Another aspect of preparing to open
a chiropractic office was to continue a longstanding commitment
to continued education—a commitment that began during his
days as a student. While other students were going to parties and
relaxing on the weekends, Dr. Dandrea borrowed several thousand
dollars from his personal chiropractor and mentor in order to attend
conferences.
Beginnings
Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation’s
first incarnation was as a tiny chiropractic space that opened in
1998. The fledging office had no room for an x-ray machine and patients
were sent to another facility for imaging; the films were picked
up by Dr. Dandrea himself. No doubt the image of the young,
entrepreneurial doctor biking across town to pick up his patient’s
films will become part of the lore of Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation
as it continues to move into the future of pain management.
The spirit of commitment to providing
the very best in chiropractic care led to rapid word-of-mouth success.
Much of this initial achievement also came as a result of Dr. Dandrea’s
impassioned and disciplined approach to education, an approach that
truly prepared him to offer the type of effective and compassionate
chiropractic treatment necessary to attract and retain patients.
As of today, Dr. Dandrea
has treated thousands of patients. Any patient who has worked with
him knows that he was just as enthusiastic about helping the thousandth
patient as he was for the very first.
Within three months of opening,
the office had 120 patient visits per week and people were lining
up outside the door waiting for treatment. Eventually, the practice
was moved to a larger space and a Physical Therapy department was
added.
A Revolution in Pain Management
and Rehabilitation
Long before the first office doors
were opened to the public, Dr. Dandrea contemplated a lot
of the issues endemic to the rehabilitation process. Why should
patients be shuffled between multiple offices for medical care,
physical therapy, chiropractic, etc.? Doesn’t this type of
care create additional stress for patients who are already suffering?
How are practitioners supposed to communicate effectively with one
another when they are geographically separated?
Patients in pain deserve a stress-free
system of care that doesn’t heap additional suffering on already
taxed and strained bodies. Dr. Dandrea understood all of
this and wanted to find a way to overcome these issues. He also
understood that rehabilitation is not simply a physical process,
but also one with many shades of emotion attached.
Today, the future of pain management
is here. Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation incorporates the very
best in Medical Care for pain
management, Interventional
Pain Management, a full diagnostic process (including not only
x-ray technology, but also ultrasound, fluoroscopy,
electrodiagnostic nerve testing and MRI), comprehensive and cutting-edge
physical therapy, chiropractic,
and acupuncture in Red Bank, NJ.
The Future is Here
Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation
is never in statis; this medical office continues to add every possible
method of helping patients overcome injury, illness, and pain. For
example, Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation’s Medical Director
recently became affiliated with several nearby facilities in order
to provide procedures
that require anesthesia.
By conveying passion, integrity,
and drive for excellence, Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation’s
practitioners continue to build on the promise of Dr. Dandrea’s
first tiny office—the spirit of personalized, dedicated care
resounds throughout the office with every visit.
