Avoiding Auto Accidents in Monmouth County

The easiest way to reduce your risk of an auto accident is to steer clear of dangerous, distracting behaviors while behind the wheel. When an auto accident does occur, our Monmouth County pain management office is ready to help with a comprehensive Auto Accident Injury Program.

I’ve been working with auto accident injury sufferers for over ten years now. A major trend I’ve been noticing more and more in the past few years involves auto accidents caused by texting or talking on the phone while driving.

We’ve all witnessed this phenomenon: drivers furiously texting away, oblivious to everything else around them. It’s as if a huge number of drivers have simply forgotten that driving is serious business.

New Jersey state laws are fairly tough on texting drivers—but perhaps not tough enough. Fortunately, Senator Richard Codey (yes, our former Acting Governor) is authoring a bill that will impose even stricter fines and repercussions for drivers who text in New Jersey.

Currently in New Jersey, texting (or using a hand-hell cell phone) while driving is considered a primary offense with a fine of $100. Codey is hoping his bill will increase the first-time offense penalty to $200 (the second offense will warrant a $400 fine). The state allows speaking on the phone while driving only during serious emergencies.

How bad is texting while driving? As it turns out, even worse than drunk driving (an issue we take far more seriously). In 2008 alone, almost 6,000 fatalities and over 500,000 injuries were caused by drivers who were distracted (according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). A number of studies have shown that reaction times when texting or speaking on the phone are actually slower than those of drivers who were legally drunk.

The easiest way to decrease your chances of becoming involved in an auto accident in Monmouth County is to follow the law and not use the phone while driving. Unfortunately, auto accidents are a basic fact of life, particularly in a place like New Jersey where driving is a necessity.

When auto accidents do occur, Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation Center has created an Auto Accident Injury Program to help sufferers reduce pain and get back to normal functioning. This program was designed to include every possible treatment modality in one location. This helps to simplify the pain management process for patients while increasing effectiveness through a more comprehensive, cooperative process.

In other words, our medical doctor works closely with all of our practitioners (physical therapists, acupuncturists, etc.) to implement the most complete rehabilitation programs for auto accident injury patients in Monmouth County. I am really excited to offer this type of care—which incorporates traditional, conservative medical care with both physical therapy and holistic practices. For auto accidents, we may use any of the following:
