Getting a Better Night’s Sleep in Monmouth County

Chiropractic care helps patients return to normal sleep habits.

I was reviewing some of our patient testimonials the other day, and something struck me that I’d like to share. Although our testimonials come from patients with a pretty wide variety of complaints—fibromyalgia, headaches, neck pain, etc.—many of them share a common theme: a return to normal sleep patterns following chiropractic care.

We’ve all experienced what it’s like to get through the day after a restless night of little or no sleep. It’s nearly impossible to concentrate or be productive in any way.

We need a proper amount of sleep for a number of reasons. Sleeping plays a major role in pretty much every vital function of the body, including immune system health, metabolism, and memory. Even worse, long-term sleep problems can lead to weakened immunity, complications related to diabetes, and obesity. New studies have even linked a lack of sleep to heart disease and cancer.

Poor Spinal Health and Insomnia: A Vicious Cycle

We can control a lot of factors related to sleep—creating a suitable sleeping environment, eating well, and getting enough exercise. Of course, many medical conditions disrupt sleep, which can lead to a vicious cycle in which a lack of sleep exacerbates the original complaint, leading to even more restless nights.

There’s a sort of Catch-22 involved in the relationship between sleep and the central nervous system (the brain, spinal cord, and nerves). When the spine is misaligned, it can cause sleep disturbances, and (additionally) the spine is unable to repair itself because your body is not getting enough sleep.

You see, the nervous system benefits a lot from sleep. The body uses sleep to repair and restore the nervous system, as well as remove waste products that have built up throughout the day.

Fortunately, chiropractic care can help end the cycle of insomnia and degraded health. Because Doctors of Chiropractic are experts in finding and eliminating interferences that may be the cause of sleep concerns (such as pain or other symptoms), healthy sleep patterns are often restored.

Take a look at some of these quotes from our testimonials page:

“This was the first time I had A full night of sleep In 8 months. This brought tears to my eyes!”Monmouth County resident suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

“I’m actually sleeping on my own and the sensitivity to my body has disappeared.” -Patient who came to our Red Bank, NJ office in search of a solution for her Fibromyalgia.

“My son had sleep problems from day one. He got 13 ear infections from 18 to 30 months of age. Since Dr. Tom started working with my son, he has had only one infection and he sleeps completely through the night.” –Monmouth County parent seeking holistic, drug free solutions for her young son.

“The improvements in everything I do have been dramatic – even sleeping better!” –Patient who visited our Central New Jersey rehabilitation center with no initial complaint but found that chiropractic care greatly enhanced his quality of life.
