Deep tissue massage and chiropractic work hand-in-hand at Monmouth Spine and Rehabilitation Center

At Monmouth Spine and Rehabilitation Center, we are dedicated to providing a multi-disciplinary, truly holistic wellness experience. In this light, I am pleased to announce the addition of our newest practitioner. Kristin Zambor is a certified massage therapist specializing in deep tissue massage.

A graduate of the Somerset School of Massage Therapy, Kristin has trained in deep tissue, Swedish, sports, and prenatal massage, with a particular focus on deep tissue massage. She has worked in chiropractic environments prior to joining our team at Monmouth Spine and Rehabilitation, and has experience incorporating massage therapy with chiropractic services.

Deep Tissue Massage at Monmouth Spine and Rehabilitation Center

Deep tissue massage focuses on adhesions (bands of painful and rigid tissue) that are associated with chronic muscle tension or injury. These adhesions can block circulation, limit movement, and cause pain and inflammation.

Deep tissue massage addresses these adhesions to restore movement and relieve pain. Treatment begins gently on the surface and gradually works deeper into underlying issues, working with fingers, knuckles, hands, elbows, and forearms to relax the tissues in specific areas.

Massage and Chiropractic: The Benefits of Working Together

Massage and chiropractic treatments complement each other—together they enhance the health benefits of both types of care. Massage is particularly suited for working in conjunction with chiropractic because it helps to stabilize the spine. It also helps patients relieve tension. This is important because tight muscles can pull the spine out of alignment.

Massage can also stimulate blood flow and promote healing. When used in collaboration with chiropractic, this therapy can aid the body’s natural healing process and help to ensure the free flow of nerve impulses.

When used before chiropractic adjustments, massage warms soft tissues and makes the joints more pliable. It is effective in aiding in pain management in conditions often treated with chiropractic, including arthritis, whiplash, and headaches (among many others).
