Electroacupuncture (EA) | Monmouth County

electroacu-feetElectroacupuncture (EA) can enhance traditional acupuncture. In EA the acupuncture needles are attached to a device that sends electrical currents into the body. EA uses an electrical pulse that contracts and releases muscles. By generating an electric flow within a specific area, the brain is stimulated to release endorphins and trigger the immune system to help injuries heal.

Nicole Heuschkel, MPR’s Licensed Acupuncturist, has had great success using EA with patients suffering from Bells Palsy, Sciatica and Neuropathy. She also finds EA to be very effective in treating specific areas of chronic pain. The electrical stimulation of acupuncture points can also be used to treat conditions as wide-ranging as muscle spasm, hypertension, weight gain and even heart disease.

For each patient MPR’s licensed acupuncturist customizes an electroacupuncture treatment plan including the rate and concentration of the electricity used. Some patients experience mild tingling while receiving treatment. EA is painless and extremely safe but not recommended for patients with a history of epilepsy, heart disease, seizures, strokes or individuals with pacemakers.

Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation is a group of Physicians, Physical Therapists, Chiropractors and Acupuncturists in working together to offer patients the most comprehensive, well-rounded, and successful plans of pain management imaginable.  Contact us at 732-345-1377 today to learn if electroacupuncture is right for you.
