The Medical Director at Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). This type of doctor is an expert in diagnosing and treating pain. Our physician works hand-in-hand with our physical therapy staff to help patients heal after an accident, injury, or illness.
At Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation, physical therapy concentrates on a number of basic goals: to help patients heal after an injury; to maximize or return the potential for movement when mobility has been restricted by an injury or illness; and to regain or build strength to prevent future disability.
Injections of a long-lasting steroid or an anesthetic numbing agent may be used when patients are in extreme pain. For example, Epidural Steroid Injections may be used to treat pain associated with inflammation of the spinal nerves such as lower back pain, sciatica or arthritis. For pain and inflammation in the joints, Facet Joint Injections may be used, while Trigger Point Injections are helpful for myofascial (muscle) pain. Others may require Sacroiliac Injections, Coccyx Injections, Peripheral Joint Injections, or Sympathetic Blocks.
