Cold Laser Therapy at Monmouth Pain & Rehabilitation

At our multidisciplinary holistic wellness facilities across New Jersey, our practitioners combine a number of services, techniques, and technologies to provide patients with well-rounded treatment plans that are customized to their condition. Cold laser therapy is used in many of our treatment programs as a supplement to our other pain management services, such as physical therapy, chiropractic, and acupuncture.

What is Cold Laser Therapy?

Cold laser therapy, also called low level laser therapy (LLLT), is a painless treatment method that  uses wavelengths of light to cause certain effects on the particular area of the body being treated. The laser delivers red and near-infrared wavelengths of light to trigger a photochemical reaction and therapeutic effect. It’s called “cold” laser therapy because although you may feel a little warmth in the area during the session, the laser does not heat the tissue being treated.

The wavelengths increase circulation and bring nutrients to the cells, which in turn reduces pain, swelling, and inflammation. Effects also include accelerated healing time and improved nerve function and blood flow.
