Restoring Movement with Physical Therapy

Physical therapy incorporates a number of methods designed to help re-establish maximum movement and flexibility and to build strength. There are four aspects to most physical therapy programs, including promotion, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Because tendonitis is a disorder of inflammation and reduced mobility, physical therapy is an excellent treatment option. Physical therapists might use a number of modalities for tendonitis patients. These can include:

• Therapeutic Exercise;

• Ultrasound;

• Ice and Heat;

• Electrotherapy; and

• Low Level Laser Therapy.

Physical therapy for tendonitis is often used in conjunction with chiropractic treatment. When the spine is properly aligned, patients often experience a reduction in long-term, low grade inflammation. Spinal adjustment can also increase motion in the joints by applying a controlled force to joints that have become restricted in movement.
